What Are Steroids?

Anabolic steroids are synthetic, or man-made versions of testosterone, the primary male sex hormone. Anabolic steroids are used to treat various medical conditions, but many people use them to build muscle quickly, boost athletic performance, and reduce the recovery time between workouts.

Steroids work by boosting muscle growth and develop secondary male sex characteristics, like facial hair and deepening voice. They have many names, including gym candy, pumpers, roids, Arnolds, and stackers [1].

Anabolic steroids have a long history. They were first synthesized in the mid-1930s in Germany, where they were used to treat depression. Later they were used as performance-enhancing drugs by the Soviet Union weightlifting team. Steroids quickly became popular after the early 1970s and were mainstream starting from the early 1990s. Virtually every gym-goer heard about steroids, and they were easy to find [2].

Steroids are very effective at building muscle mass and boosting athletic performance. However, they also have many dangerous side effects. Long-term steroid users may experience cardiovascular issues like high blood pressure, structural damage to the left ventricle in the heart, but also liver damage, especially if the steroid is taken orally.

Harmful changes in cholesterol levels are also possible (lower high-density lipoprotein and higher low-density lipoprotein). Secondary side effects include shrunken testicles, erectile dysfunction, infertility, gynecomastia (breast development), prostate cancer, and stomach pain [3].

The bottom line is anabolic steroids are commonly used by professional and recreational athletes to improve their athletic performance. Steroids are very effective at building muscle mass and improving work capacity. However, they also have many dangerous side effects.

Signs Of Steroid Use

Steroids are often used by young men who want to become more muscular as quickly as possible.

Here’s how to spot a steroid user:

  • Red / Flushed Skin
  • Rapid Weight Gain
  • Extreme Mood Swings
  • Overdeveloped Shoulders / Traps
  • “Man Boobs”

Let’s take a closer look at each of these signs.

One of the most common signs of steroid use is extreme mood swings, or “roid rage.” This is a direct effect of high testosterone levels; aggression is likely to increase, often resulting in bursts of anger; in severe cases, hypomania or manic episodes may occur [4].

Another common side effect is overdeveloped shoulders and traps.

Research suggests that steroids users often build insanely muscular shoulders. This is because the delts have an enormous number of androgen receptors [5].

Another common sign is gynecomastia, aka “man boobs.” Gynecomastia occurs because of estrogen dominance, caused by the aromatase enzyme, which converts excessive testosterone into estrogen, These puffy nipples can be treated with anti-estrogen medication [6].

There are many other signs of long-term steroid use, but these are some of the biggest ones.

If someone has all of these signs, then the odds are pretty high that they are using anabolic steroids.

Is Bradley Martyn On Steroids?

Is Bradley Martyn really a natural bodybuilder? Or did he use anabolic steroids to go beyond his natural limits and take his physique to the next level? Let’s look at the facts before jumping to any conclusions.

Bradley Martyn has the following signs of long-term steroid use:

  • Insanely Muscular Physique
  • Completely Shredded
  • Crazy Body Transformation
  • Super-Human Strength

Bradley Martyn has an incredibly muscular physique. Bradley is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs an unbelievable 245 pounds. In other words, he is almost as big as Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime! Bradley has so much muscle mass that it’s almost impossible to believe that he is still natty.

Another dead give-away is the fact that Bradley is completely shredded year-round. Seriously – Bradley Martyn has ripped six-pack abs almost all the time. This is extremely difficult for a natural trainee to pull off, but Bradley Martyn makes it look easy. Anabolic steroids make it much easier to stay lean year-round, so this is another sign that Bradley may be on gear.

Bradley Martyn also made a crazy body transformation, going from a 200 pound Men’s Physique competitor in 2013 to the true “mass monster” that he is today. This kind of rapid body transformation clearly suggests that Bradley may be using steroids.

Although it isn’t a dead give-away like the other signs, Bradley Martyn is also unbelievably strong. He can bench press over 500 pounds and can squat / deadlift well over 600 pounds for reps.

Although it is possible to get this strong without using gear, it’s extremely rare for someone to pull this off.

All of this evidence strongly suggests that Bradley Martyn is using anabolic steroids.

Bradley Martyn Before And After Steroids

Bradley Martyn has many of the usual signs of long-term steroid use, such as insanely muscular physiques and massive shoulders / traps. But did he always look this way?

The truth is, Bradley Martyn used to look like he didn’t even lift weights. He was just a regular teenager with normal muscle tone and a slightly flabby stomach. He didn’t even look like an athlete – he was just an “average Joe.”

Of course, that completely changed when he got serious about bodybuilding. Bradley quickly packed on muscle, and even competed in a Men’s Physique competition. He had a lean, muscular physique, but he was no where near as big as he is today. Bradley Martyn likely used anabolic steroids after his Men’s Physique competition to blow up his physique.

Today he looks like a real-life super hero, complete with massive 3-D delts and outrageously big arms.

Legal Steroid Alternatives?

Bradley Martyn probably used steroids to build his incredible physique. But that doesn’t mean they are a good idea for most people! Anabolic steroids are extremely dangerous, and have many negative side effects. Many long-term users find they have damage to their heart, liver, kidneys, and many other organs [7].

Of course, you don’t have to use steroids to build a great physique. A solid diet and workout program are all you need to build muscle mass and get shredded.

If you are still interested in speeding up your results in the gym, then you may want to look into “legal steroid alternatives,” or natural products that speed up the muscle-building process [8].

One of the hottest legal steroid alternatives on the market today is called ecdysterone.

Ecdysterone is a naturally occurring plant hormone found in spinach, quinoa, and many insect species. Many fitness experts have started using ecdysterone to build muscle mass and strength. Studies show that ecdysterone is more effective than many anabolic steroids, including dianabol, as it can increase muscle protein synthesis by up to 20%!

Unlike anabolic steroids, ecdysterone doesn’t cause changes to your testosterone levels or other hormones. It also has zero long-term side effects in humans – especially when taken at the recommended dosage of 500 mg.

One of the easiest ways to get started with ecdysterone is to order from an online retailer.

We really like the company Huge Supplements, as they manufacture all of their products right here in the United States under FDA-regulated facilities.

Testosterone Therapy vs. Steroids

Testosterone replacement therapy is a great alternative to anabolic steroids. Rather than increasing your muscle-building hormones to dangerous levels, testosterone replacement therapy is designed to raise your testosterone levels to the high end of the normal range.

Most users find they feel best when their testosterone is between 800 – 1200 ng / dl, or at the high end of the safe range, but this varies from one individual to another.

Research shows that testosterone therapy has many benefits, including increased muscle mass, decreased body fat levels, and improved energy [9, 10, 11].

There are many great online TRT providers, but one of our favorites is called Fountain TRT. They use a simple 3-step process with all of their patients to make it as easy as possible for you to get the prescription testosterone medication that you need.

Bradley Martyn and Steroids | The Verdict

What’s the verdict – does Bradley Martyn use steroids?

We believe the odds are extremely high that Bradley Martyn used steroids to go beyond his natural limits and take his physique to the next level.

Bradley Martyn has many of the usual signs of long-term steroid use, such as an insanely muscular physique, overpowering body parts, and rapid body transformations. Bradley is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs an unbelievable 245 pounds!

This is obviously way beyond the limits of most natural bodybuilders.

Bradley has never admitted to using steroids, but he doesn’t have to: it’s written all over his physique.

We’re actually big fans of Bradley Martyn, and he is clearly one of the hardest working people in the fitness industry. But Bradley clearly used performance enhancing drugs to build his incredible physique.
